MISS UNIVERSE GREAT BRITAIN 2011 CONTESTANT - Shanna Bukhari

I am 24 and from Manchester and have studied English Literature BA hons. From a young age, I have been taught by my family how to make the best of life. This teaching is a blessing and I would like to use what they have taught me to help others in this world. I am a well-rounded candidate with the right qualities to strive to support good causes through which I in turn would hope to gain valuable experiences. I have had a great number of experiences in campaigning for the Pakistan flood appeals to help the thousands of victims that were hit by the worse rainfall in 80 years. Thousands lost their lives and millions more were affected - and my aim was to help raise as much as charity to help rebuild homes, help provide aids in the form of food and shelter. Helping people in need is something I have always been passionate about and I believe that this is a gift I am given from God. It is something I thoroughly enjoy and makes me feel happy knowing I am helping those in need. I look for bigger and better changes and I plan to deliver bigger and better results in what I do. I am very committed and passionate about making a difference.

MISS UNIVERSE GREAT BRITAIN 2011 CONTESTANT - Siobhan Brindley

I have had many opportunities over the past few years, which have been exciting, challenging and rewarding I achieved a degree in Beauty and Spa Services at the University of Buxton, and am currently at college, studying fulltime, to complete a Level 3 course to qualify as a Personal Trainer. I am an ambitious, determined, motivated, strong and loving young woman, with an outgoing personality. My hobbies include, training in the gym, dancing, travel, as well as making and decorating cakes. I have a creative and artistic mind and love to learn and explore new things in life. I believe these qualities enable me to develop good friendships with people I meet, and I have used my skills to successfully raise money for various charities over the past few years. Last summer, I made history by being the first profoundly deaf woman to win a place in the finals of the Miss England beauty contest, and achieved a place in the final 20, after being awarded the title of Miss Eco 2010. The BBC programme See Hear, featured this, which was a very exciting honour. I have never let my hearing impairment prevent me from setting and fulfilling personal goals and I believe my outlook on life has helped me put number of achievements under my belt, of which I am extremely proud. I am very grateful for the support my friends and family have given me throughout my life and truly believe that we can only give away to others what we have inside ourselves. To have been selected to be in the final for Miss Universe GB 2011 is a great honour and is an amazing opportunity for me to fulfil many more dreams and aspirations.

MISS UNIVERSE GREAT BRITAIN 2011 CONTESTANT - Emma Blythe

From a young age I’ve always taken part in sport and thrive on all that’s involved with it – team work/ competition/ fitness and energy. I studied sport at college and completed my degree in this subject at university - as well as my studies I took part in a variety of events from The Special Olympics to Coaching football in California. After studying and growing out of recreational sports I decided to compete in another passion of mine fashion and beauty and most importantly competition within pageants. I’m currently employed as an events manager for the most exclusive London venues, as I work for a London based company but live in Glasgow, I’m used to travelling a lot and alone, socialising and building rapport with business associates and clients, I have a friendly nature and can adapt to any situation. Together with my passion for fashion and beauty, I believe the experience I have from international and regional competitions will fair me well for being your ambassador for the Miss Universe GB.

MISS UNIVERSE GREAT BRITAIN 2011 CONTESTANT - Amy Bedward

I am Amy Bedward. I am described as a sweet natured, ambitious, humble and outgoing girl with a big heart who believes that all dreams are possible if you put your mind to it. I’m an avid traveler. I’m always trying new things as to me my experiences are my wealth and I intend to gain as much as possible while I still can. I find comfort in working for charity and causes, which is why I’m currently away for a month participating in the Red Cross Disaster Services in North Eastern Japan. In future I plan to be a successful philanthropist and entrepreneur. I’m currently starting my own business backed by the Bright Ideas Trust charity. Being chosen as a finalist for Miss Universe Great Britain 2011, I cannot express how extremely honored and excited I am. Even though I have traveled to many places around the world, I feel strongly that Great Britain is a truly dynamic and an extraordinary nation. It is a fantastic place to live with so much character and tradition and I am extremely proud that it is my home and if being blessed to be given the chance to be an ambassador I will work hard to not fail in doing this country proud at Miss Universe.
