Anna Simpson was crowned Miss South Dakota 2011
Road to Miss America 2012
Anna Simpson, Miss Rapid City, was crowned the 65th Miss South Dakota Saturday night, June 25, 2011 in Hot Springs. Simpson will represent South Dakota in the Miss America pageant. Simpson won the preliminary talent competition Friday playing “Malaguena” on the piano – a day after she won the swimsuit competition.
That’s not terribly uncommon, pageant producer Ray Peterson said. But Simpson – Miss Rolling Plains – wasn’t the only contestant to score a double win this week.
Calista Kirby of Brookings won the Thursday night talent competition and the Friday night swimsuit contest, creating what Peterson called a “double-double.”
