once, everyone apart from local Mirians, had to fly into Miri, the
second city in Sarawak. Throughout the 10 days journey, the 18 finalists
not only visited famous tourism spots in Miri and involved in charity
visits and activities such as Home for the Aged and the Miri Aurism
Center, they also had their very first experience in self defense crash
course, hashing in the dense Miri jungle, riding a superbike and golf
clinic.
“The aim of holding Miss Global International Malaysia in Miri is to
promote my beloved home town in particular and Sarawak in general,”
beamed the indefatigable and competent Marlene Lim who had organised the
same contest for the past 2 years and 2013 was her third. She has grown
from strength to strength as proclaimed by Sean Chia See Chun, GM of
ERM (Exclusive Resources Marketing) which holds the Malaysian franchise
but sublets Merveilleux Production to organise the contest. Marlene Lim
is also a former Miss Sarawak and a representative of Malaysia in Miss
Tourism Queen International 2011 and Miss Global International 2010 in
which she placed 2nd RU in the world final.
