Heny Tavares was crowned the title of Miss World Guinea-Bissau 2013 at the conclusion of the first ever National Final of Miss Guinea-Bissau pageant held on July 26th, 2013 at the Hotel Azalai in Bissau. She will represent Guinea-Bissau in the upcoming Miss World 2013 pageant, scheduled for September 28th, 2013 in Indonesia.
Heny, 21, is originally from the city of Bafatá. She is currently a first-year student of technical inspection health and sanitation. She had previously placed 6th in Miss West Africa Intentional 2011. A special coronation ceremony will take place later at the Directorate General of Culture.
The first runner-up was Jaquilina de Sousa – Miss Chapa de Bissau. The second runner-up was Tatiana Djau – Miss Bissau Velho.
10 candidates of Miss World Guinea-Bissau 2013 were chosen via a casting round held at Hotel Malaika in Bissau on 20th July.
The contest is being organized for the first time ever by TOP GB Internacional, headed by Joana Arminda Fernandes, in association with SB Apresenta and the Directorate General of Culture of the Republic of Guinea-Bissau.
